Human beings get along to form culture and society, which is an essential difference between humans and animals. The most important principle in the interaction between people is sincerity and trust. One of the most terrifying problems of contemporary people is the loss of trust in peopel and even those around him. But in order to survive, we still have to interact with people and seek to survive in society. Both distrust and communication, people give birth to many faces and masks that change constantly from person to person, from time to time, and from place to place. My mask series is based on this one-person phenomenon.
After hundreds of millions of years, human beings have evolved from marine organisms to Human sapiens. The fish in rivers, lakes and seas should be close relatives of mankind. In Chinese culture, fish is a symbol of good fortune and prosperity. Painters of the past dynasties have sought auspicious signs by painting fish. But today, 171 million tons of fish are caught by people every year. What is even more frightening is that 8 million tons of plastic waste enter the ocean every year and cause 15 million marine life deaths. The harmony between man and nature is one of the essence of Chinese traditional culture. And this value has been abandoned by the billions of people living on this land. I do not seek surplus and auspiciousness in painting fish, but focus on whether people can still get along with nature in harmony?
It has been 800 years since the Chinese people painted lotus paintings by Wang Mian in the Yuan Dynasty. Send love to the lotus as the surface, and rub the cultural values as the inside. I paint lotus instead of flowers but focus on lotus pond. The lotus pond is a symbol of Chinese culture and land. Can the current lotus ponds in China grow ice and jade without reconstruction?
